Marymount students started their Thanksgiving break by serving at A Place Called Home (APCH) to help unload goods, sort them, package meal kits and decorate for the festive season. Here’s a recap of the entire service event!

First, volunteers unloaded the truck, full of over 4,000 donated items from the Marymount food drive. All of the bags were placed onto the ground, to then be sorted by food item. The food items included olive oil, salt & pepper, white rice, canned veggies, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, stuffing, marshmallows, gravy, and rolls. Every food item was placed into its own category, with signs marking each.
Then all volunteers grabbed a bag and collected one of every food item, to create one packed

meal kit. Every volunteer went around multiple times until all of the food was packed into individual meal kits. Then meal kits were placed into a room, to be stored until pick-up. Overall, 400 meal kits were packaged for APCH families!
Along with sorting various Thanksgiving foods, Marymount students also participated in the beautification of a classroom. Marymount students worked on painting the walls blue and white, using paint brushes and paint rollers.
