Marymount is home to many clubs and alliances, but one particularly empowering and special one is called Oasis. OASIS stands for Opioid Awareness Support Intervention Society and is a certified non-profit started by one of our very own sailors, Erin Youn ‘27.

Originally, Erin started this club as a Socie-tea at Marymount, and it started as a club that focused on debunking misinformation on certain topics. After realizing there was a huge gap in education with opioid awareness, she started a student-led campaign. It now has over 500 members with over 10 chapters across LA, and they hope to get it International one day!

Through collaborations with businesses such as Better Angels and events with LACC, OASIS has grown into more than awareness; it’s grown into a movement! By educating people on opioids and their effects, people become more aware of the dangers and learn about solutions to problems that arise with opioids.

Recently, on the 28th of April, Oasis led an interactive thought talk, with the goal of educating our Marymount community on the Opioid Crisis and its representation on social media! There were also guest speakers from Clare Matrix to give professional feedback on the topic. This organization strives to reduce the stigma about the opioid crisis and is an awesome club at Marymount! Make sure to join OASIS at our next club fair!
