This year the water polo pre-season has started with a bang.  Pre-season practices began about four weeks ago, and the actual season will begin in winter.  Sahra Maxwell, a junior, tells us what she loves about the sport. She says, “ My teammates inspire me to play water polo.  They make me want to be a better player.”  The team definitely seems to be a close-knit bunch!

Water polo offers an amazing bonding experience for those on the team, which results in strong friendships among different grade levels. Despite the fact that there are both lower and upper classmen, which could have been a divisive factor of the team, Sahra explains that everyone on the team is already incredibly close.  She reveals, “My team is absolutely hilarious, and the players are so uplifting and supportive of each other.  I’ve met some of my closest friends through water polo, and I am glad to be a part of such an admirable group of people.”

The welcoming community is not the only benefit of water polo. Sahra says, “I love everything about water polo.  I like having something to work towards, and have an achievable goal out of the reaches to those without ample dedication.”  Water polo is undeniably a sport that requires commitment and hard work.  However, Sahra finds the sport incredibly rewarding. She says, “Although water polo is a very demanding sport, it helps me unwind because I get to be around amazing people and play the sport I love.  I couldn’t imagine my life without water polo.”
