“Let The Road” is an new album by the foursome Uk-based band, Rixton. “Me and My Broken Heart” was just a sneak peak at their album and the bands potential.

The first song, “Let The Road,” is an acapella hit. The voices harmonize perfectly although completely different from “Me and My Broken Heart.” The beat itself is slower with less of a “party and dance around” vibe and more of a “watching the rain on a sad day” vibe. The song’s message is that even if life seems impossible, you have to keep going. This message can be heard through the lyrics “And you’re scared of the darkness to come / Oh, hold on, oh, hold on cause love will show all the ways.” Overall, the song has a great message and a nice relaxing beat.

The second song, “Wait on Me,” shares a similar pace as “Me and My Broken Heart.” The song has a great beat with “sing along” type lyrics, though the lyrics can get a bit repetitive. The tempo is upbeat and fun; this is a good song for dancing around the house with your friends. This song is about the attraction between a girl and a guy; the girl does not want to settle down so the guy will wait for her.

The third song, “Appreciated,” is a serenade song. The song has very soothing beat and sound to it. All the aspects of the song are balanced: the drums don’t bang against your ear and the vocals aren’t the only thing you hear.

The fourth song, “Beautiful Excuses,” is a pop ballad. The song has great instrumental tones that work extremely well together. The beat is very similar to “Appreciated.” Although this song has a very cliché message, the lyrics are very strong and well-written.

The fifth song, “Me and My Broken Heart,” is the best known song, and certainly for good reason. The song is extremely catchy but not too repetitive. The beat is a faster pace then their other songs as it has a lot more Pop and upbeat sounds.

The sixth song, “ Hotel Ceiling,” is another song with a slow tempo. This song is similar to “Let the Road” because of the vibe it gives out, which is very solemn. The chorus of the song is more upbeat than the verses. However, the song’s message is cliché.

The seventh song, “I like girls” is one of the upbeat songs. The beat for this song is very “listening to music on the beach” type of song. Although the rhythm is soothing, the lyrics are not as strong. The  song is about the boy’s dilemma in being unable to pick a girl.

The eighth song, “Speakerphone,” is more upbeat than most songs on this album. The song is quite catchy. Although the theme of the song shares the common topic of liking a girl, this song unique in a sense. He not only likes a girl but is also confident enough to pressure it.

The ninth song, “ We all want the same thing” shares a similar beat and tone as “Me and my broken heart. It is extremely catchy and has a great rhythm. The song is a great song for dancing around the house and singing along with your friends. This has got to be one of the best songs on the album because it really shows the strengths of the band- creating catchy songs with a great beat.

The tenth song, “Whole,” is another pop balled song with a lot of harmonizing at the beginning. The lead singer really strains his voice in order to hit some of the higher notes, but other than that his voice  is strong. The beat is slower then the rest of the album. The chorus is quite repetitive because the lyrics, “Make them whole” repeat more than a couple of times.

Overall, the album covers two extremes of pop: Pop Ballads and Party Pop. While all the songs have their own strengths and weaknesses, the upbeat songs, “Wait on Me” “Me and My Broken Heart” and “We all Want the Same Thing,” seem to have a stronger sound. This band definitely has a bunch of potential and talent. Check them out!
