This year’s Varsity Tennis Team is filled with girls possessing top-notch skills and spectacular personalities. Each individual brings a full swing daily, eagerly working to win as many matches as they can. Our wonderful senior captains, Niki Gowey, Maddy Heldman, and Remi Halliburton lead the team.

Niki brings her vibrant energy and amazing personality to each practice. The one and only, Maria Sharapova, influences her tennis game. Her strong forehand intimidates our opponents and makes her a strong doubles partner.

Maddy’s organization skills have kept the team in line. Her enthusiasm is extremely infectious! She always plays consistently, never letting opponents overpower her.

Last but certainly not least, Remi brings her determination and disciplined mindset to every game, consistently bringing home the W. Her net skills are unbeatable.

However, our team’s progress wouldn’t be where it is today without the help of our new coach, Sheena David. Her poise and strong mentality help guide the team to victory. Each practice consists of intense ab workouts, footwork drills, and one-mile runs every week to build up the team’s stamina.

Sheena’s inspiration is “Rafael Nadal, because he plays tennis with a passion.” Her goal for the team is “to be the best we can be, and to always have positive attitudes!”

The team’s vibrant and welcoming environment makes practice enjoyable yet challenging each day. Incoming freshmen, Jenna Rotheram ’19, Lia Cappellari ’19, and Andrea Crummy ’19, are great additions to the team, putting forth non-stop hard work during practices and matches. The Varsity Tennis Team keeps on working hard: we “Hustle, Hit, and Never Quit!”
