Style is a form of self-expression; often people look to the way they dress as one of the most prominent creative outlets in their life. Different clothing styles often become popular during one time period and then reappear even more popular in another. For example, the 90’s trend of high wasted denim jeans, more commonly known as “mom jeans” as well as turtlenecks and graphic t-shirts have made huge re-appearances in the late 2000s.

Junior Britt Alphson reaffirms this thought saying, “Every type of kid can be seen wearing 90’s style clothing. It’s funny to see how I now look to 90’s shows such as Friends for style inspiration.”

Living in L.A., we are exposed to amazing fashion culture. There’s a wide variety of vintage stores available, the best ones being on Melrose near West Hollywood—American Vintage, Melrose Vintage, Wasteland, and SCOUT all offer vintage clothing at an affordable price. These stores allow you to delve into your inner 90’s teen and contribute to the cycle of vintage trends.

Because of the constant cycle of style re-entering popularity among different generations, I think vintage will never go out of style! I believe that every generation will take stylistic pieces from previous generations and use them as inspiration for future style and expression.
