Why Did Belwood Bakery Rise to Popularity Among Marymount Students?

Vanessa Catalano, Opinion section editor

Throughout a typical day at Marymount high school, I witness countless Belwood Bakery coffee cups, constantly passing by them on desks and seeing them in the hands of my fellow schoolmates, but why does Belwood Bakery have such a monopoly on the caffeine that Marymount students are buying?

Belwood Bakery’s location in Brentwood has convenient proximity to Marymount’s campus.

In my opinion, Belwood’s proximity to the Marymount campus is a significant factor that contributes to its immense allure for students. By being only 2.3 miles and about 9 minutes away from campus, Belwood allows great convenience to students who live near school or pass by along their driving routes. Thus, making Belwood the perfect pit stop for convenient morning breakfast and coffee.

I also think that the quality and taste of Belwood’s coffee and food contribute to its large attraction to Marymount students. As a testament to its delicious taste, Bella Neumann ’25 says, “Belwood is one of my favorite coffee shops.” Her go-to order is an iced caramel latte and she also loves their turkey sandwich and muffins because they have “amazing, fresh bread and pastries.” Belwood’s appetizing menu is once again reaffirmed when Emma Baskin ’23 agrees with Bella. Emma’s order is an iced vanilla latte, which she claims has the “perfect sweetness.”

As a result of all of the benefits that Belwood Bakery grants Marymount students, I can totally understand its immense appeal, and I’m sure the amount of Belwood cups I see every day won’t disappear anytime soon!
